Influence: Ivy League

Ralph Lauren

Oh Ralph...you sure know how to make a man look like he showers. And I credit you for showing a new way to dress. The Chuck Bass way. You know... neck scarf, crisp blazer, short rolled-up pants, no socks, leather loafers. Some might say WTF?...I just say, 'I kinda like it.' And I do.

If you have a man, know a man, are a man, or are a manly-woman...please take note of these pictures. Take detailed notes and notice how prep is cool, clean is necessary, and socks are optional. (Especially the thick tube ones)

I also credit Marquis Phifer from Lateboots.com, 'The Bearded Man', and his followers from The Brooklyn Circus; for showing American boys that this look does work. Believe me...

Have a good summer and please don't forget your Ray-Bans.

My Burlap Is So Chic

Bodkin

Being Eco-friendly is getting easier and easier as cool ass clothing companies are coming out with some quality 'green' clothes.

Eviana Hartman, former NYLON editor, designed a Fall '09 full of space-dyed clothes, recycled polyester, recycled tire rubber...etc etc. It doesn't sound yummy but once you see the clothes you'll forget about all that. Anyway, its better than being made of puppies right? J/K

Hartman states, "It’s dyed with things like red onion skin, cherry root, sumac leaves, and boiled carob." So does that mean I can literally eat my sleeve????

It reminds me of the eco-friendly, NYU Grad girl....I'm sure she has a teal 1959 bicycle with a wire basket in front too. With a bumper sticker in the back that says, 'I Care' with a Recycle sign on it... So cool!

Where's my Glow Stick?

In case you've been in outer space, I'm sure you've heard about Steven Sprouse. And to dedicate and emmulate this wonderful man, Louis V has done a full-on collection for him...titled Louis Vuitton for Steven Sprouse. Now this shit has been in stores since January, but I keep seeing these items around Chicago and online...and my envy of it keeps growing. So I had to write it out, I guess to cope with the fact that I can't cop it.

Oh yeah, in case you go to a Rave or Cosmic Bowl...you will glow in the dark with these clothes on.

Kate Moss for Topshop

Kate Moss for Topshop Summer 2009 has just hit stores and topshop.com. Here are some inspirational words straight from the site.
"Kate's collection encapsulates the perfect holiday wardrobe."
"Her latest pieces are rich in texture and heavily embellished."
"Harking back to 1970s Morocco."

Everything is beautifully made, exquisitely executed. Moss has proven to be more than what we thought. We still get excited every time a new collection comes out. And she keeps reinventing herself, to prove she knows what the F she's doing.

Called the High Summer Collection 2009...said to be the most glamorous summer yet. It's bohemian, its exotic, and layered to the max.

See entire collection www.topshop.com...don't forget to click on the USA icon.

Nike Gladiators

Nike done done it again. Do you see these?

Designed by Art Center College student Nancy Wu for Nike as a part of the Re-Mix & Re-Cut program for spring/summer 2009, and available at Collette for about $125. However, that store is in Paris.

I must go get these. MUST. I don't know anyone in Paris...Damn.
