Gwyneth P and Zoetee: They're in Love
Another day, another celebrity clothing line.
Who is it now you ask? Gwyneth. No not Gwen Stefani, Gwyneth Paltrow. WTF?
She's doing a 10-piece capsule collection with French fashion house, ZOEtee. And the line is called ZOEtee's loves Gwyneth Paltrow. It will have looks for day and night and WWD calls it a "mélange of Seventies glamour, rock inspiration and men’s casual suiting." The clothes are made of fabrics such as cashmere blends, recycled cotton and wool mesh.
And before the clothes even hit stores, they have already renewed it for 2010. The pics above are 'her' sketches. It looks cute to me, but I doubt she drew it....Feel me?
All proceeds generated from the clothes will go to Kids Company, a charity Paltrow selected.

GIRLS heart TOPSHOP
TOPSHOP!!! TOPSHOP!!!
GIRLS heart TOPSHOP!!!
So naturally I'm pissed because I missed to opening of Topshop in New York by a few days...but it's probably a good thing seeing that I would have cashed in my Prudential Life Insurance Policy in order to truly have a good time in that store.
The NYC store is on the corner of Broadway and Broome and is said to be HUGE. They will have sweets, treats, DJ's, and special guest appearences. I'm so salty.
You can even get one-on-one style consultations from the baddest bitches from across the pond. They have this thing called Style Advisor which is the 'ultimate personal shopping experience where you get up-to-the-minute style advice from a group of girls who make a living finding your perfect outfit in store.' Um...how f***ing cool is that? Right? And what makes it even better is that it is FREE99!!!!! No cost for the styling challenged individual.
And don't you worry, Kate Moss for TOPSHOP will be in the building, the newest shit too Spring 2009. I don't know if she will be there, but I wouldn't doubt it.
TOPSHOP NYC debuting April 2nd. If you're in the area, get there early...if you're not in the area, start saving your money now so that when we DO get there...we can get crazy!!!!
P.S. I hope the NYPD is ready. Because bitches ain't playin' when it comes to TOPSHOP. And it WILL be a riot....LOL. Oh boy!

How Lo(han) can you Go?
What's skinny, red, and freckly all over? You guessed it this time....LINDSAY LOHAN.
For those of you who thought she died and went to movie-star heaven, you are mistaken. She's back and gracing the pages of NYLON's 10th anniversary issue.
I love this girl, not because of obvious reasons but because she does not care what people think...and is getting paid to be herself. She says she loves photoshoots, and would sign with IMG if the world worked like that. She just did a nudey shoot with famed photographer, Hedi Slimane....they are nice but why are her nipples always exposed?
Anyway, no one seems to be talking about how this girl is back to being 98 lbs. but whatever. I'm excited to read yet another Lohan article where she'll probably talk about her expensive leggings, future 'maybe' movies that never happen, and being a lesbian in a rocky-horror type crazy relationship. Exciting right?

Lipglass, Candy-gloss.
My lipgloss is cool, my lipgloss is poppin'.
That it is my friend....and your lipgloss can be poppin' too. Wanna know how? Well that will require $20, a computer, a craving for cupcakes, and some dry ass lips.
M.A.C. has come out with a triple scoop of ice cream and lipgloss for the girls with the really crusty kissers. They are offering a limited edition Tricolour Lipglass collection as part of their new Sugarsweet collection, which officially hit the stores March 19....so does that mean I'm late?
Anyway, the collection is based on cupcakes, and sugar-highs and comes in 5 different color combos....including "Tasty" which is bright red, bright pink, and blue-pink shimmer, and "Consume Me" (featured above), which is pastel pink, iridescent mint-blue, and sparkling white.
Since winter has come to an end, my lips can finally shed that extra layer of crust and get ready for some extra sugary lipgloss. You, should do the same.

Philo, Philo, wherefore art thou Philo?
A few days ago, I did a blog about Chloe and the new designer. Well I found out where the old designer, Phoebe Philo went...to Celine. And although she technically hasn't started designing yet, they've unleashed a beautifully designed collection for Fall 2009. They haven't said if Philo had anything to do with this collection, but if she didn't, then what else is she doing? Filing?
Anyway, the clothing has Phoebe Philo written all over it, but you be the judge. She will definitely be on the payroll come June, as Celine's new creative director...till then I guess she can reorganize the office or something.

Trend Alert: Flower Power
Spring has sprung ladies and gentleman. Maybe not in the Midwest, maybe not on the East coast....but none the less, it's technically Spring.
With this word 'Spring' comes other words like grass, pastels, baby birds, flowers, and yes allergies. Designers everywhere get excited about Spring just like everyone else and they have shown it in their collections. Companies like Marc Jacobs, Nike, and H&M have all done shoes in a beautiful flower design. There are designs for everyone; the tom-boy, the grunge-girl, the country-girl, and well yes the stylish-girl.

A Dress to match your Mojito
Matthew Williamson for H&M finally revealed. Of course it is packed with lots of colors, and lots of texture. Throughout the collection, there is a peacock feather...seen on shirts, dresses, and bags. Some critics say that peacock feathers went out of style a few years ago, which is half-true.
I enjoy the tie-dye effect in the statement dresses, the layering, fluid fabrics, and faux-leather jackets and vests. I hope however that these aren't the only pieces because I am a little underwhelmed. There is even one top that has faded butterflies on it which scares me.
I will be buying the purse though....

Project Jail-bird.
So guess what.
Kenley from Project Runway was arrested yesterday for attacking her ex-boo with her cat, among other things.
From trashy TMZ (yes I go to the site, don't judge me)
"It's unclear what started the fight, but according to legal papers Kenley told her ex, "You're lucky ... it could've been a lot worse." Kenley was arrested and charged with six crimes -- including 2nd degree assault, 3rd degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree. No word on when Kenley is set to be released from jail.
Dang. Dang Kenley....LOL

Chloe, can we be friends?
Chloe debuted their Fall 2009 collection in Paris last week and one must say it was a vast improvement from Spring 2009. The collection was another 80's revival, but the sophisticated kind.
From Style.com, "What came out for Fall was a soft version of the early eighties, all big blanket coats, high-waisted fluid pants, wrapped belts, and, for evening, a much-needed dose of the easy glamour Chloé has been missing."
For those of you who do not know, Chloe has been going through head designers faster than commentators on the View, finally settling on Phoebe Philo's apprentice Hannah MacGibbon. She seems to be getting a grip on the brand and the image she wants to portray. The clothes are fit for a sophisticated woman in her late 20's, circa 1982, with an attitude like Glenn Close from Fatal Attraction.

Paper Chains Are Cool Again....well sort of.
WARNING: This will be one of the many articles on Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 RTW.
So, Louis Vuitton just wrapped up Paris Fashion Week for the Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear collections and I loved everything. This particular blog however is just on the statement necklaces. They looked like the chain Christmas decorations you used to have to make in the 3rd grade. I remember I thought I was so cool because I made they in descending colors, starting with Black and fading all the way to light purple. Needless to say, this show confirms that I'm not a nerd and that paper chains are cool.
Marc Jacobs, head designer for Louis Vuitton, did a twist on the chains by making them in genuine leather, a long with chain leather belts. I wonder where he thinks of this stuff. Who would think of making a paper arts and crafts project circa 1991, into luxurious leather chains suitable for the most prestigious leather brand company in the world? I guess that's why he makes all the big money. Stay tuned for the price of these bad boys...I'm sure it won't be anything short of a few stacks.

Is that the Cookie Monster?
Fashion is all about risks, about bold statements. This year more designers have taken a literal take on fashion, creating pieces that say, "Hello, I'm into fashion."
So it comes as no surprise that one crazy French designer, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac took that to heart. He has created pieces of well, the Muppets, historical figures, celebrities, and animals. Everything is reminiscent of the 80's, when everything was bold, bright, and tacky.
I would never be caught dead in anything like this, but celebrities like M.I.A might be. I just honestly thought it was fun.
Too see more literal designers, look at Martin Margiela and Vivenne Westwood.

Double is definitely Trouble.
Mary-Kate and Ashley just released their lookbook for Spring 09 for contemporary line, Elizabeth and James and I love it. It's weird, quirky, and very well merchandised. They show a themed picture on the right and on the left, the accessories or other items that can go with the outfit.
They state that Elizabeth and James is inspired between the mix between masculine and feminine, uptown and downtown. They specialize in androgynous menswear inspired clothing with feminine detailing, couture concepts for the contemporary customer.
And they have also signed with Steve Madden to create a high-end shoe line to go with their Elizabeth and James collections to be released mid-2009.

You Oughta Know: Nikicio
Eureka!
I've found a designer who I'm surprised isn't famous by now. It is Nikicio, a Singapore based clothing company founded in 2006. And the clothing is wonderful. They join humor, sexuality, and traditional menswear inspiration into every piece they create. Designer, Nina Nikicio says she's inspired by her father and poor people, and refuses to ever make wedding dresses (too much pressure).
I think I like her because she ignores the trends and does whatever the hell she wants. She also creates everything with couture techniques, hence why the price tag is well...up there.
The collection is mature, urban and filled with attitude. It is for opinionated, successful, sexy women. Someone who doesn't give two flying F***s!

Nike...can I make a shoe with you?
Two blogs in a row about sneakers.(I'm ashamed) But these aren't your typical shoe, not your typical AIR Yeezy or Jordan...but they are Nike's.
Nike has joined forces with a Magazine. Confused? I was too. But it kind of makes sense seeing that the magazine is Nylon. My fav, my boo, my magazine of choice.
They are called Nylon Nikes for Ladies only and were worn by fashionistas during Fashion Week in New York this past February. They will be available for us common folk this June and I may even consider getting a pair. The hot pink ones are just wonderful. And since Nylon is all about music, they better have the option of the I-pod connect with NikeiD...or I'm gonna be pissed.

AIR Yeezy
So I normally don't talk about gym shoes, or sneakers because lets face it...I only own 2 pair. (one for work-out, one for stuntin' like my daddy) LOL...Just kidding. But seriously.
Anyways, I'm obsessed with Kanye West so I had to report. Kanye has a new sneaker line with Nike called AIR Yeezy. (Not a fan of the name)
It is said that the line was developed for the strong relationship between Nike and West. Creative director of Nike, Mark Smith states, “Kanye is a truly creative talent. He’s a natural designer—partnerships like this always enhance the creative experience and the end product.”
Kanye follows up by saying, “Nike is such an important brand to me. Whether you are on the court, in the street, in the club, at school, Nike represents excellence, the standard in design. Growing up, we looked forward to the release of new Nike’s the way we would an album by our favorite artist..."
The inspiration was based on Nike's icon status and high-quality design features. They are scheduled to hit stores this Spring.
I'm kind of tired of talking about sneakers...sorry.
( I love you Nike....ever thought about a Nike 4 inch high heel? Just a thought.)

Have FAITH in the big girl.
Hey Hey
Guess Forever 21 finally heard the complaints of the girls not being able to fit their clothes. They are coming out with a plus-size line this May called Faith 21. Now, don't get me wrong this is a great idea but I have a few concerns with this.
#1 Why call it Faith 21? Big girls do not like to feel separate from every other girl. For example, charging more for bigger clothes. Or giving your "plus size" line a FAT GIRL name.
#2 Would it really be Plus-size? I know I'm not the only person in America that has tried to put on a button-up shirt from Forever 21 and gotten trapped in it. The line only goes up to a size large (10-12) and most girls that wear a large in that store, wear a medium everywhere else.
Side Note: I almost started crying. I was in the fitting room, on a Saturday....and I was stuck in this damn shirt, for real.
#3 Will it be just as cute and disposable? They better not make a bunch of big girl tops like the woman is 6 months pregnant. (i.e. Ashley Stewart) And like I said, it better have the same price points.
I guess those are the only concerns I have right now. To say the least, I am excited. Finally...some breathing room.
